If you are wanting to go for 300+ hp on an MK4 GTI, a K04 upgraded turbo is absolutely necessary. I think it applies to all the VW mk4 Jetta/Golf/GTI because they use the same connectors. The MK4 GTI factory turbo can only handle around 215hp-225hp. VW apparently knows about this issue and supposedly offers special repair kits for it. I did however, learn what the problem was thanks to them and I'll share the solution here.
